On our trip back from Norfolk we spent a sunny day in Colonial Williamsburg. We had a wonderful time taking in the historically preserved homes and town. People dress in costume and really give you a feel of what it was like before the Revolutionary War.
Our favorite part was the tour of the George Wythe house. Mr. Wythe was Thomas Jefferson's teacher and mentor. This is the original home that dates back to the 1730s.
One of the rooms inside the George Wythe home- rich colonial colors display the families wealth. Love the map above the fireplace.
The back of the Governor's Palace has extensive maze gardens.
For families, they have a scavenger hunt that gives you clues on where to go throughout Williamsburg. Once you find a clue you have to text in your answer to get the next clue. Nothing gets you in the spirit of Colonial times like texting.
Darcy, is that you?
Great day!
